Finding inner peace is not an easy task, right? It sounds perfectly simple, but the truth is that even for peace you have to fight. Think about what matters to you the most.
What makes you feel calm, composed, and most of all, happy? Is it your family? Is it someone else? Or, maybe, just maybe, is it you who makes you happy? If not, then you need to change that. You need to accept yourself for who you are, and not who others would like you to be.
Some say that peace lies in security. It is simply about cleaning up your life and finding a way to get motivated. Others would say that it’s about forgiving and letting go. The truth is probably somewhere in between because everything you do shapes you as a person.
Do you want to change yourself and finally become the person you’ve always wanted to be? Then let’s get started.
Do you really know who you are? We all have those low moments where we don’t think much of ourselves. Fortunately, there’s a way to change that. Make a list of all the qualities that you value and those you intend to work on. Ask yourself these questions:
- Do I want to be a better person?
- What difficulties lie ahead of me?
- What principles matter to me?
Ask yourself these questions every single day and don’t worry if you have a different answer each day. That’s perfectly normal. Priorities can change, and so can you.
Forget about perfectionism
You’ll never be perfect. That sounds harsh, but that’s the truth. And guess what? That’s completely fine. Nobody’s perfect, we all have flaws. Forget about trying to do everything the right way, and accept yourself. Don’t beat up yourself for not leading a perfect life.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Start small – Improve your health, broaden your mindset, and the pieces of the puzzle will fall into place.
There’s one incredibly important thing that you need to know – Not everyone chooses to live their lives in the same way you do. That’s why you should always be patient and understanding with people who are different than you, and always communicate with those people in a way that will give you peace of mind.
At the end of the day, you’ll have to live with the consequences of your actions, and they will have to live with theirs. That’s why you should always take a deep breath and think about what you want to say. Some people will try to annoy you just because they’re bored, so don’t fall into their trap.
If your goal is peace, love, kindness, and of course, happiness, then begin your journey by closing your eyes and becoming one with nature. Being spiritual and meditating has nothing to do with religion. Tibetan monks have been using prayer flags for centuries to promote wisdom, strength, compassion, and peace. Those four things are exactly the things you need to strive for if you want to find inner peace. Put those flags around your home and let the wind blow away your mantras and prayers into the world. Those who love others and wish everyone well always get the same back. What goes around comes around.
Plan and think long term
This is important because of one simple reason – You won’t get easily irritated and become angry by small things and people if you have a long-term plan.
Losing your temper might be tempting from time to time because we all like to vent, but negative emotions are not what you need when you’re trying to find inner peace. Always think about your goal and never let tiny things annoy you.
Practice love and acceptance and you’ll never feel angry, bored, or irritated. Happiness is not something that you can easily find. It’s rather attained by living the way you want. Let go of prejudices, be patient with others and with yourself, as only that way you’ll find inner peace.
