Ah, summer! That wonderful time of the year when you get to relax and enjoy everything good that life has to offer. If you were active during winter and spring, and you’ve got your beach body ready, then you probably don’t have to worry about a thing now, right?
Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. Staying healthy during hot summer days can be a challenge, but don’t worry, there are a few things you can do that will improve your overall health while your feet are deeply buried in the sand.
Hydrate your body
Human beings are basically 80 percent water. We’re actually conscious water blobs walking around on a hot rock that’s floating through space. That’s exactly why you need to stay hydrated at all times.
Your health will improve if you drink plenty of water. Always carry a bottle of water with you if you plan on staying outside for longer than an hour.
Keeping your skin moisturized is also of utmost importance, and unfortunately, you can’t really do that by just drinking water.
Fortunately, we already live in the future, and there are products that can seriously multitask. Shield your skin with a moisturizer with an SPF and don’t worry about spending the whole day on a beach.
Adjust your diet
Summer is the perfect time for surfing and beach parties, but it’s also the time for barbecues. Unfortunately, the weather is not the only thing that gets hot in the summer. Our bodies heat up as well, which makes summer the ideal time to turn to a healthier diet. Foods that we eat can affect our bodies in numerous ways, and they can affect our digestion too.
Hot and spicy foods don’t mix with summer, no matter what your gran told you. If you want to stay fit and healthy, your best bet would be visiting the nearest vegan shop and putting everything they have into your beach bag.
One more important thing to keep in mind is that hot weather will decrease or completely kill your appetite.
Don’t worry, that’s completely normal. That only means that you have to find a different way to stay healthy, and you can do that by adding supplements to your diet. Chia seeds, probiotics and vitamin D will boost your health and supplement your diet perfectly.
You’ve probably already read in some health magazine for men that exercising is good for your body. It is, it really is – if you know how to properly work out while the air is humid and the weather is hot.
Summer is everyone’s favorite time of the year because there are so many outdoor activities that they can choose from. Everything is much more exciting and fun outside. Because of that, forget about going to your local gym during summer.
Step out and stay out. Swim, run or cycle. Compete with your friends. Breathe that fresh air while the sun is shining. Stay healthy and get an amazing tan while you’re working out.
You might not be exercising in the Sahara, but keep in mind that you need to be careful when exercising during summer.
- The time of day is important so try to avoid exercising from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. since that’s the hottest part of the day.
- Wear light-colored T-shirts. Loose, light-colored garments made of cotton will make you feel comfortable and will help your skin breathe.
- Avoid drinking sport drinks because they’re loaded with calories. Drink only water, and drink plenty of it.
The most important thing to do during summer is to unwind and relax. Eat moderately and eat healthily. Exercise only when it’s not too hot outside. Protect your skin at all times and stay hydrated. If you do all these things, you will improve your health during summer incredibly!
